We take a look at films and television shows that are currently in production and being filmed in the UK this April.
Film award season is officially behind us for another year and now we get to look forward to a whole host of new films and TV shows. In this article, we take a closer look at six productions that are currently filming around the UK and will be coming to screens in the next year or two.
Wuthering Heights

Directed by Emerald Fennell and produced by Margot Robbie for LuckyChap Entertainment
From Academy Award-nominated writer/director Emerald Fennell, whose previous works include Promising Young Woman and Saltburn, comes this raunchy new adaptation of the beloved Emily Brontë gothic novel. Wuthering Heights tells the passionate and destructive love story between ‘Kathy’ and ‘Heathcliffe’ set against the moody Yorkshire moors in the 19th century.
After releasing the first image on social media on Valentine’s Day, the excitement for this film is rapidly building due to its star-studded cast, led by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Also joining the cast are Spotlight members Owen Cooper and Charlotte Mellington as young ‘Heathcliffe’ and ‘Catherine’, as well as Hong Chau as ‘Nelly Dean’ and Spotlight member Alison Oliver as ‘Isabella Linton’.
Wuthering Heights is currently filming at Sky Studios Elstree and various locations around Yorkshire and is scheduled to release in cinemas on 13 February 2026.
Masters of the Universe

Based on the original characters created by toy company Mattel in the early 1980s, the new Masters of the Universe film will follow ‘Prince Adam’ as he sets out on a quest to find the magical sword that holds the power of the universe and faces familiar foes along the way, like ‘Skeletor’.
Currently filming in London for the next few months, Masters of the Universe has a star-studded cast including Spotlight members Idris Elba, Charlotte Riley, James Purefoy and Nicholas Galitzine, alongside Morena Baccarin and Jared Leto.
Scheduled to be released in cinemas on 5 June 2026.
Untitled Jack Ryan Feature

Directed by Andrew Bernstein
Currently without an official title, the next in the Jack Ryan series will be a feature film, following the events of the Prime Video series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan which finished in 2023. The series followed Jack as a new recruit analyst for the CIA when he found himself caught up in a case involving a terrorist organisation, pulling him away from his desk job into the heart of the action. The new production is currently shooting in Tower Hamlets and the wider London area, and at The Story Works Studio.
Featuring the acting talent of John Krasinski in the title role, he is supported by Sienna Miller, Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly and Spotlight member Max Beesly.
The film is expected to release late in 2026.
Criminal Record (Season 2)

Written and created for AppleTV+ by Paul Rutman
The follow-up season to Apple TV+’s Criminal Record, starring Spotlight members Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, is currently filming in London for the next few months.
Season 1 of Criminal Record followed two police detectives as they investigated a historic murder conviction whilst juggling the political climate of a polarised Britain. Season 2 dives deeper into the life and work of its two leading detectives as they investigate a fatal crash at a political rally.
There is currently no release date set for Criminal Record (Season 2).
Run Away

Series showrunner: Danny Brocklehurst
The latest in a long line of hugely successful adaptations of thriller author Harlan Coben’s books, Run Away tells the story of ‘Simon’, who, after the loss of his daughter, finds himself wrapped up in the violent underworld, which changes his life forever.
The cast comprises Ruth Jones, along with Spotlight members James Nesbitt and Alfred Enoch. Run Away is currently filming in Manchester.
Half Man
Casting by Caroline Stewart and Kahleen Crawford
After his ground-breaking success with last year’s Baby Reindeer, Spotlight member Richard Gadd is back with his next series, Half Man.
Written, produced and starring Gadd, and created for television by Mam Tor Productions for the BBC and BBC Scotland, Half Man tells the story of two estranged brothers who are reunited at a wedding with explosive results. The series spans the 40-year story of the highs and lows of the pair’s relationship, from their first meeting as teenagers to their falling out as adults.
Gadd is joined on screen by Spotlight members Jamie Bell, Neve McIntosh and Amy Manson.
Half Man is currently filming in Scotland and is scheduled to release in early 2026.
Other productions that are coming to the end of their shooting dates and are scheduled to be released later this year are:
- The Diplomat (Season 3) – Netflix’s political drama returns for a third season, currently wrapping up filming in London.
- The Running Man – Edgar Wright’s take on the Stephen King classic novella is coming to the end of its shoot in London and is scheduled for release at the end of the year.
- Silo (Season 3) – Apple TV+’s sci-fi epic series is finishing up filming this month at Hoddesdon Studios.
- Ladies First – Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike’s new romantic comedy began filming in London at the start of the year and will be wrapping soon and is scheduled for release on Netflix by the end of 2025.
