We want to encourage as many young people as possible to develop a passion for the performing arts, so we’re excited to welcome young performers to our Spotlight network. A young performer wishing to join Spotlight must be between 6 months and 17 years old, and you must be represented by a Spotlight-registered agency.

Find answers about joining Spotlight as a Young Performer.
Research agencies that belong to the Agents of Young Performers Association (AYPA), Personal Managers’ Association (PMA) or have strong track records with young performers. You can find Spotlight-registered agents in our Contacts Listing.
Beyond securing auditions, an agent protects your young performer’s interests by negotiating professional contracts, ensuring pay aligns with industry standards (such as Equity guidelines), and securing fair usage fees for commercials.
They handle the complex administrative paperwork behind the scenes, such as coordinating with production companies and your local authority to secure legally required Child Performance Licences. In return for this work, reputable agencies operate on a commission-only basis (typically taking 15% to 25% of your child’s earnings), meaning they only get paid when your young performer successfully books a job.
A membership with Spotlight will put your young performer’s profile in front of vetted casting professionals for high-profile jobs. We also require anyone under 18 to be linked to an agency that will handle all contractual enquiries.
Aside from your profile, a Spotlight membership will give you access to several membership benefits, like online events and discounts.
A Spotlight profile link is not public, and your Young Performer’s profile will not be found on external search engines. Only signed-in casting professionals will be able to access your profile, or if you or your agent decides to share the link with someone.
Occasionally, major films or theatrical productions hold ‘open calls’ for specific types of children on social media or other platforms. We do advise to be cautious about these jobs. Always discuss any open calls with your agent. If you are a member of Spotlight, it is very likely that the casting team has posted the job safely on Spotlight already.
